Bologna remains interested in signing Fabio Miretti this summer, which is why Juventus attempted to include the midfielder in their offer for Jhon Lucumi. However, the proposal has reportedly been rejected.
Lucumi has just one year remaining on his contract and is also attracting interest from Premier League side Bournemouth, who are prepared to compete with Juventus for his signature. The Colombian defender has no intention of extending his stay at Bologna, making this the club’s final realistic opportunity to receive a transfer fee for him.
Juventus attempts a player swap deal
Despite Lucumi’s contract situation, Bologna continues to demand €28 million for the defender. Juventus believe that the valuation is excessive considering both his age and the fact he could leave for free next summer.
The Bianconeri, therefore, attempted to lower the financial cost of the transfer by including Miretti in the negotiations. Juventus were hopeful that Bologna’s long-standing admiration for the midfielder would help make the proposal more attractive and potentially speed up discussions between the two clubs.
However, Bologna appears unwilling to alter its position regarding the structure of any potential agreement for Lucumi.
Bologna prefers a cash agreement
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Bologna has no interest in accepting a player plus cash arrangement and would instead prefer to negotiate a straightforward cash deal for the defender.
The Rossoblu remain confident that other clubs will continue pursuing Lucumi and are optimistic that they can secure a substantial fee for his signature before the transfer window closes.
That confidence has reduced any pressure on Bologna to lower their asking price or compromise on Juventus’ proposal involving Miretti. Bournemouth’s continued interest has also strengthened their negotiating position as competition for the defender increases.
Miretti, meanwhile, continues to attract attention from several clubs, meaning Juventus could still decide to sell the midfielder separately and use part of the transfer fee to fund a renewed move for Lucumi later in the window.
