Celtic’s Fares Ghedjemis hopes fade further with Juventus now in the running

Celtic’s hopes of possibly signing January transfer target Fares Ghedjemis have taken another blow, with Juventus now said to be in the running for the Algerian’s signature…

The Hoops were strongly tipped to bring the forward to Parkhead during the winter transfer window of this year, only for him to end up staying put in Serie B, where he finished with a flourish to the season. Ghedjemis helped his side gain promotion to Italy’s top division, prompting bigger clubs to stand up and take notice of the Frosinone star.

Awaiting news of any kind from Celtic at present is becoming tiresome and all that the supporters are left to ponder are speculation and rumours, with even those thin on the ground these days. What will almost certainly be aggravating many of the fanbase, is the fact that Ghedjemis has now been linked with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and now Italian heavyweights Juventus.

The club could and most likely should have sealed the deal for the World Cup star back in January, when his fee was at a reported £6-7 million. Now, with rising interest in the wideman and a rumoured fee of £15 million or so being suggested, it appears that any hopes one might have harboured of bringing Fares Ghedjemis to the club this summer are fading – and fast.

This latest report from African publication Maghreb-foot, claims that the mammoth European giants that Martin O’Neill defeated 4-3 during his first spell as permanent Celtic manager, way back in 2001, have instigated their interest in Fares and let it be known they value his talent.

It also confirms that Ghedjemis is very interested in a possible move to the Old Lady and would definitely like to hear what they have to say.

With this update, it seems like it’s curtains for any possible Fares Ghedjemis move, wherever Martin O’Neill and Celtic are concerned now.

Even so, the club need to get a move on and kick-start this summer recruitment drive and quell supporter fear over another car-crash season arising.
