Tarik Muharemović’s [proposed move to Inter Milan](https://talkjuve.com/2026/07/02/inter-milan-continues-to-push-to-sign-bosnia-star-despite-juventus-interest/) now appears to have collapsed, with Juventus moving quickly to bring the defender back to the club this summer.
The centre-back left Juventus Next Gen in the summer of 2024 to join Sassuolo after failing to break into the senior squad in Turin, although the Bianconeri reportedly maintained confidence in his long-term potential.
As part of that deal, Juventus included both a sell-on clause and a buy-back option, allowing them to retain a degree of control over his future development.
The defender had attracted interest from Inter since the end of last season, and there were suggestions he was open to a move to the Nerazzurri as he continued his progress in Italian football.
Juventus activate buy back option
---------------------------------
However, according to [Corriere dello Sport](https://www.corrieredellosport.it/news/calcio/serie-a/juve/2026/07/03-149635193/spalletti_freme_la_juve_stringe_per_muharemovic_accordo_vicino), Juventus have now stepped up their efforts to re-sign Muharemović by activating the buy-back clause agreed with Sassuolo.
The report claims Inter had been increasingly concerned about Juventus’ influence over the player situation, and those concerns have now materialised with the Bianconeri taking decisive action.
Juventus are understood to have already informed Sassuolo of their intention, with the expectation that the agreement will be finalised in the coming days.
Return to Turin is expected
---------------------------
Muharemović is now set to return to Juventus after a productive spell away from the club, during which he continued his development in Serie A football.
The defender had previously progressed through the Juventus Next Gen system and was widely regarded as a player with strong potential for the senior team.
His return would represent a continuation of Juventus’ strategy to reintegrate young players who have developed elsewhere, while strengthening depth in defensive areas ahead of the new season.
Juventus are expected to complete the formalities of the deal shortly, bringing the defender back into the club’s long-term plans after two seasons away.
