Sunderland and Bournemouth are reportedly ready to move for Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemović
Sunderland and Bournemouth could reportedly make concrete moves for Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemović in the coming days, according to reports.
Italian journalist Luca Cilli, reporting for Tuttosport, claims the two Premier League clubs are ready to step up their interest in the Bosnia and Herzegovina international, with Juventus said to be some way behind in the race for the centre-back.
Muharemović, 23, is currently on the books at Sassuolo and has emerged as one of the more intriguing defensive names on the market. Born in Slovenia, he represents Bosnia and Herzegovina at international level and has already earned senior caps after previously captaining the country’s under-21 side.
The centre-back came through the youth ranks in Austria with Wolfsberger AC, making five first-team appearances before earning a move to Juventus in 2021. He spent much of his time in Turin with Juventus Next Gen, where he gained regular senior football in Serie C and made 47 league appearances, scoring twice.
A loan switch to Sassuolo in 2024 proved a key step in his development, with Muharemović becoming an important figure in their Serie B title win as they secured an immediate return to Serie A. That move was made permanent the following year and he has since made 32 Serie A appearances, scoring twice. Overall, he has 136 senior club outings and six goals, as well as 17 caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Muharemović currently has an estimated market value of around £21.5million to £30million. Juventus are also said to hold a buy-back and sell-on clause, with reports suggesting they could re-sign the defender for around £15.5million.
