Aston Villa and Tottenham readying instant approach as PSG green light bargain offers for star

Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur's summer transfer windows couldn't be any more different if they tried. Whilst those in the Midlands are yet to welcome their first signing of the summer, the Lilywhites have been making statement signing after statement signing.

Now, both sides are set to go head-to-head in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain's young star Ibrahim Mbaye. As Villa look to commence their business and Spurs aim to add to theirs, the 18-year-old gem is quickly becoming one to watch.

Mbaye would be an excellent addition to the Premier League, but it remains to be seen whether it will be Spurs, Villa or another side that wins the race for his arrival.

Spurs and Aston Villa ready offers to sign Mbaye

According to United In Focus, Aston Villa and Tottenham are now readying offers to sign Mbaye from PSG this summer. The French giants are prepared to green-light offers worth €35m (£30m), whilst those aforementioned bids are set to be worth just €25m (£21m).

Whether there is a middle ground is now the big question. Of course, it's only natural that there is a gap in valuation in first offers, as Aston Villa and Spurs aim to negotiate with the European champions.

It also remains to be seen whether Mbaye will want either move, as he potentially heads for the exit door in France.

Mbaye would be a bargain Leao alternative for Spurs

Of course, it's worth noting that Mbaye isn't the only winger on Tottenham's radar. They've also got their sights set on Rafael Leao at AC Milan and have already commenced talks over a deal which could cost upwards of £50m.

That should not rule Mbaye out, however. The PSG man would be far cheaper and has greater potential than the Portuguese international, who struggled to find his best form in Italy last season.

Dubbed "magnificent" by scout Jacek Kulig, Mbaye can quickly become the attacking star that Spurs have been looking for to add the cherry on top of an excellent summer so far.
