Newcastle United have completed the signing of Icelandic international midfielder Hildur Antonsdóttir on a free transfer.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Magpies this morning.
The 30-year-old joins Newcastle United off the back of a two-year spell with Spanish Liga F Moeve club Madrid CFF. She helped her club finish in ninth place in the Liga F Moeve table last season.
Antonsdóttir started her senior playing career in her native Iceland with Valur before enjoying a six-year spell with Breiðablik. The player then joined Dutch side Fortuna Stittard before moving to latest club Madrid CFF in summer 2024. Antonsdóttir was a regular for the Spanish side throughout her two seasons at the club.
On the international stage, Antonsdóttir has been capped by Iceland on 37 occasions at senior level in which she has scored two goals.
After joining Newcastle United, Antonsdóttir said “I’m really happy to be here. Newcastle is obviously a big club, and I’m really honoured and proud to be able to represent this badge.”
Antonsdóttir is Newcastle United’s second signing of the summer transfer window. The Magpies have also added experienced defender Gemma Evans to their ranks so far this summer.
