Portsmouth's sporting director Richard Hughes has confirmed the club's interest in bringing back Abu Kamara, if a deal can be struck with Hull City.
Hull Live reported last month that Pompey were keen on re-signing Kamara, and had opened discussions with City over a permanent move for the winger.
As it stands, the London-born winger will return to pre-season training at Cottingham on Monday, but a return to Fratton Park remains possible.
No deal has yet been agreed, but talks continue with City, though things have been further complicated in recent days with Tigers sporting director Jared Dublin being sacked on Monday.

City are preparing to appoint former Fenerbahce assistant recruitment chief Okan Ozkan, and it's hoped his arrival will help speed up a flurry of deals, both in and out of the MKM Stadium.
"Abu is a player we really like, and the honest answer (if we will sign him) is I don't know at the minute," Hughes told BBC Radio Solent. "There's a lot of moving parts, Hull have obviously been promoted and their sporting director has left, so there's necessities to sort of go from within.
"But if there was an opportunity for us to explore, to try and bring Abu Kamara back, would we be interested? Yes, we absolutely would be.
"There's probably a lot of bits that will go in place to try and make that a viable option, but if it was something we were able to explore as a football club, it would be something that we would pursue."
Kamara arrived from Norwich City in a £3.5m deal back on deadline day in 2024, signing a four-year contract. He's played 40 times for the Tigers, scoring five times with three assists. During a fine loan spell at Fratton Park the season before, Kamara bagged 10 goals and 11 assists to help the Blues win promotion to the Championship.
