Released Ipswich Town Women winger Ruby Seaby has joined Glasgow City on a three‑year contract, completing a move to the Scottish Women’s Premier League following her exit from Suffolk earlier this summer. The 19‑year‑old leaves Town after a year of development, progression and senior experience across two divisions, having originally arrived from Arsenal’s academy in 2025.
Seaby played her part in Ipswich’s rise through the pyramid, contributing to the Southern Premier Division title and subsequent promotion to the second tier in 2024/25. She featured in WSL2 during the first half of last season before spending the second half on loan at Lewes, gaining valuable minutes in the third tier.
A New Chapter in Scotland
Seaby now heads north to link up with Glasgow City, one of Scotland’s most successful women’s clubs, who finished third in the SWPL last season under head coach Leanne Ross. The move represents a significant step in her development, offering top‑flight football and a competitive environment known for producing international‑level players.
Seaby: I’m Excited To Test Myself
The winger says she is eager to begin her new challenge in Scotland.
“I’m very excited to get started, buzzing to be here. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the league and I think it’s going to push me physically and technically, so I’m excited to test myself.”
Ross: She Brings the Qualities We Look For
Glasgow City boss Leanne Ross believes Seaby fits the club’s attacking identity.
“Ruby is an exciting young player and I’m really excited to bring her exuberance to the squad. She has pace, is direct with the ball and is also hungry to assist and score goals, bringing the exact qualities that we look for in an attacking player.”
A Positive Step for a Promising Young Talent
The move away from Ipswich Town by Seaby is yet another instance of the growing reputation that Ipswich Town Ladies have in producing young players who can succeed in a high-level setting. The transfer to Glasgow City allows her to further develop and prove herself in one of the best leagues in the United Kingdom.
