🚨 Done deal! Town sign Brazilian striker Emersonn for club record fee

The deal for the 21-year-old - who becomes the Blues' first ever Brazilian - is believed to be £24m plus add-ons, eclipsing the circa £20m fees paid for Omari Hutchinson (2024) and Jaden Philogene (2025).

He pens a five year deal at Portman Road and strengthens a striker unit currently containing George Hirst, Chuba Akpom and Ali Al-Hamadi.

Emersonn looked a teen star in the making at Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense before suffering an ACL injury at the age of 18. He recovered from that to make a first team breakthrough, then joined Turkish club Göztepe in January 2025.

A £2.75m switch to Toulouse followed on summer transfer deadline day 2025. In the season just gone, he helped the French club finish ninth in Ligue 1 with seven goals from 19 starts and nine substitute appearances.

Town chairman and CEO, Mark Ashton, promised to spread the net further this summer, with the club's recruitment team having greatly expanded over recent months. New Blues boss Gary O'Neil, at his unveiling last month, insisted a strength of his had been working with players from all over the globe.

Emersonn is the first addition of what is set to be a busy summer transfer window as Ipswich prepare for life back in the Premier League. He will be able to integrate with his new team mates at a training camp in Spain next week.
