Companies House filings show that Aston Villa owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens are both listed as having ceased to be Persons with Significant Control of the club's parent company.
NSWE UK Limited filed the updates on Tuesday, July 7, and Villa have explained to BirminghamLive exactly what they mean.
The club has confirmed that the updates are purely an administrative process and that there has been no change to the number of shares held by either Sawiris or Edens.
Both remain fully committed to the club, with the Companies House filings indicating no substantive change beyond a change of paperwork process.
Sawiris and Edens also remain directors on the club's Companies House records, alongside Michael Angelakis, Chester Hall, Bashir Lebada and Sarah Watterson.
Angelakis is the chairman and CEO of Atairos, the investment firm that acquired a minority stake in Villa's parent company in April 2024.
V Sports, Villa's parent holding company, continues to own 100 per cent of the club and will retain full control over all decisions.
Since Sawiris and Edens took control of Villa in the summer of 2018, the club has qualified for European football within five years, reached the Champions League within six years and, in their eighth year of ownership, won a European trophy.
After lifting the Europa League last season, Villa will play in UEFA's elite club competition for the second time in three seasons next term.
