Harry Wilson has revealed how Leeds United 's strong interest persuaded him to join the club after giving his first interview since his arrival at Elland Road. The Wales international's signing was officially announced on Wednesday after weeks of speculation over his future, putting pen to paper on a four-year deal until June 2030.

Speaking to the club's official website, Wilson said: “Really, really excited. It is a massive, massive club in the Premier League where the club belongs so, yeah, really excited to join and hope to have some exciting years together," he told the club's official website.

"To play for Leeds, you have to have a big personality. You have to be able to deal with pressure – the demands of the club and demands of the fans. You have to be able to take the pressure and go out and perform.”

The 29-year-old saw his contract end at Fulham on June 30, making him a free agent. Despite reported interest from Benfica, Leeds were able to convince the winger to remain in the Premier League.

The Whites were always leading the chase for the winger having expressed their desire to land Wilson last summer, only for Fulham to pull the plug on the deal in the closing hours of the transfer window. That didn't go unnoticed to Wilson as they returned to secure his signature 11 months later.

“This summer was different. When the season finished and I became a free transfer, I felt Leeds were the team that really showed the interest in me," he added.

"As a player, you want to play for a team which you feel like they want you and you feel like they are doing everything to get you."

Wilson will recognise a few familiar faces when he links up with his new team-mates for pre-season. He joins the growing Welsh contingent of Daniel James, Ethan Ampadu and Karl Darlow, who will be ready to welcome him into the squad and help him settle in Yorkshire.

"Speaking with the Welsh boys [James and Ampadu], I think it was pretty clear that this was the place that I wanted to come," he said.

Wilson is Daniel Farke's first signing of the summer and there are plenty more expected to arrive, as the German boss looks to build on the promising end to the 2025/26 Premier League campaign where they finished 14th - some eight points clear of relegation.
