Large joins Avenue with almost 25 years of experience in elite football, bringing a wealth of knowledge in player development, coach education and academy leadership.
A UEFA A Licence holder with an Advanced Youth Award and an MSc in Sport Coaching, Large has held a number of senior academy positions throughout his career, most recently serving as head of coach development at Oldham Athletic.
He also spent time at the Latics as interim academy manager.
Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in developing young players, supporting coaching staff and creating high-performance environments focused on long-term success.
As academy director, Large will oversee the continued growth of Avenue’s youth section, helping to establish a clear pathway for young players to develop and progress into senior football while building an environment that supports excellence on and off the pitch.
Speaking about his appointment, Large said: “I am delighted to be joining BPA as the new academy director.
“After speaking with Tom McStravick (Avenue’s sporting and executive director), I quickly realised this was a club I wanted to be part of, one where I could contribute immediately while also helping to build for the future.
“I aim to create a clear pathway for players to develop and progress.
“With nearly 25 years’ experience in elite football alongside my A Licence, Advanced Youth Award, and MSc in Sport Coaching, I am passionate about developing people, improving performance, and helping teams reach their full potential.”

Meanwhile, Tara Nolan has been appointed as Avenue’s new community engagement manager.
Nolan joins Bradford (Park Avenue) from the Leeds United Foundation and will play a key role across both Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC and the Bradford (Park Avenue) Sports Foundation.
Working across the football club and its charitable arm, Nolan will help strengthen community partnerships, develop new engagement opportunities and support programmes that use the power of football to make a positive impact in the district.
Her appointment reflects the club’s continued commitment to building stronger links with local schools, community groups, participants and supporters, ensuring Avenue remains at the heart of its community, both on and off the pitch.
Following her appointment, Nolan said: “I’m so excited to get going with Bradford (Park Avenue).
“There is a lot of room for some fantastic opportunities to really impact our local community.
“Having grown up locally, this role motivates me to bring the Bradford (Park Avenue) community alive for years to come.”
