The Blues, who made Brazilian striker Emersonn their first signing of the summer in a club record £24m move yesterday, are said to have Scherpen, who plays for Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, on a list of targets.
Sky Sports report that the 26-year-old is' one of the options under consideration' as Town bid to bolster their goalkeeping options ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Town have already been linked with Newcastle United's Nick Pope, with some reports claiming the Blues have held talks with their former academy player, now 34.
Scherpen, who kept 21 clean sheets in 43 games for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise last season, started his career at FC Emmen.
He then spent two years at Ajax, before a £4.2m move to Premier League Brighton, where he only played once in three years.
He went out on loan to Oostende, Vitesse and Sturm Graz while with the Seagulls, before making a permanent move to their partner club Union Saint-Gilloise last summer.
