I had this nagging suspicion that, when it comes to transfers, today would be a quiet day.
Thankfully that feeling has proven to be wrong.
With Jack Wilshere, earlier this week hinting that he would like to bring a right-back to the club, it appears that the gaffer has done just that.
According to the – Official Newcastle United Site – Luton Town have secured the services of Harrison Ashby on a season long loan.
But what do w know about Harrison Ashby?
24-years-of-age, Harrison is almost a local lad having been born in Milton Keynes.
Most of his early youth career was with London based clubs, first with Chelsea and then joining West Ham United at the age of just 9.
When it comes to his professional career, Harrison made a few appearances for West Ham United, before leaving East London to join Newcastle United but has yet to make a league appearance for the north-east based club, instead spending time out on loan at the following clubs:
Swansea City
Queens Park Rangers
Bradford City
before signing for the Hatters today.
Due to having Scottish grandparents, Harrison has played at the following levels for Scotland:
U17
U19
U21
His somewhat unexpected arrival would, it seem, give concern with regards to the immediate future of another of our younger players, the right-back Reuel Walters.
In the second half of the 2025/2026 season, Walters had a successful spell with Blackpool, before returning to the fold once the season had concluded.
