Four loanees Blackpool would've loved to have kept hold of - including Crystal Palace and…

Several popular loanees have played for Blackpool in recent years.

One of Blackpool’s main targets this summer is former loanee Karoy Anderson.

The Charlton Athletic midfielder enjoyed a successful stint at Bloomfield Road in the second half of last season, during which time he scored one goal in 16 outings.

His performances in the centre of the park saw him described as a ‘pressing monster’ by head coach Ian Evatt, with his displays being key in the Seasiders’ successful battle against League One relegation.

Several loanees have made their moves to the Fylde Coast permanent over the years, including current squad members Hayden Coulson, Niall Ennis and Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

Meanwhile, there’s been a number of others in recent times Blackpool would’ve loved to have signed permanently.

Here’s the standouts:

Karamoko Dembele

Karamoko Dembele is one of the best natural talents to pull on the Tangerine in recent years, with the former Celtic wonderkid impressing with his skills during the 2023/24 season.

His nine goals and 14 assists in all competitions earned him several club awards, as fans took the attacking midfielder to their hearts.

Unfortunately, a permanent agreement with the 23-year-old’s then-club Brest was never realistically going to materialise due to the interest he was attracting elsewhere.

It was QPR who eventually bagged Dembele following an initial loan stint at Loftus Road.

One player who did make a temporary stay with Blackpool permanent that summer was Jordan Rhodes - who couldn’t replicate the strong form from his first six months with the club.

Odel Offiah

Another impressive loanee was Odel Offiah - who thrived in a number of positions at Bloomfield Road.

The 23-year-old had the ability to get up and down the pitch as a right back, while also performing well at centre back.

Like Dembele, the levels of Offiah’s performances always meant he would be of interest to sides in the Championship, with a permanent move to rivals Preston North End coming last summer from Brighton & Hove Albion.

A couple of other loanees also made positive impressions during the 2024/25 campaign.

Elkan Baggott did well when he featured, but missed a large chunk of the season due to injury, while Harry Tyrer grew in goal throughout his 12 months on the Fylde Coast, but a deal to bring him back didn’t materialise last summer.

Danny Imray

Based on a pretty small sample size of what Danny Imray is capable of, it was always pretty clear that a permanent move was never going to be on the table for the wing-back.

In this case, the Seasiders would’ve simply loved to keep the 22-year-old on loan for a little longer.

After returning from injury at the beginning of December, the Crystal Palace man enjoyed a superb festive period, which prompted the Eagles to recall him in order to send him back out to West Brom in the Championship.

Blackpool did face struggles imminently after Imray’s departure, and is someone they would’ve loved to have had until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Reuell Walters

Another right-sided defensive player who did well on loan with the Seasiders last season was Reuell Walters.

The Luton Town man arrived in February on Deadline Day, and on the whole looked solid in defence.

While there was a shaky performance away to Cardiff City, he was able to come back stronger from that experience, and slotted in both out wide and as part of a back three.

A move for the 21-year-old can’t be completely ruled out, but a permanent move for Anderson is the more likely of the two.
