**Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Aurèle Amenda is set to join Coventry City, with just a medical check yet to be done.**
[BILD report on the matter today](https://www.bild.de/), explaining that a €20m move including bonuses is on the cards for the 20-year-old defender.
**€20m deal done**
------------------
The newspaper explains that it is currently a summer of exits for Frankfurt, who have seen Rasmus Kristensen, Nathaniel Brown and Aurèle Amenda departing this summer. The latter is [set to join newly promoted Coventry City.](https://sportwitness.co.uk/coventry-city-practically-complete-deal-for-signing-players-medical-with-lampards-side-to-follow/)
They then report that Amenda’s move to Frank Lampard’s side is ‘just missing the medical check’. That has been delayed as the defender is still at the World Cup with Switzerland. They’re through to the quarterfinals, where they take on Argentina on Sunday.
A deal has already been agreed with Coventry, worth €20m including bonuses. That will make him Coventry’s record signing, although there is time for that to be broken again this summer. The previous record was the €11m deal for Haji Wright in 2023.
Frankfurt are set to make a big profit on the defender. He joined in a €9.5m deal in 2024 after coming through the youth ranks at Young Boys. He played for them at U16, U17, U18 and U21 level before moving up to the first team.
**World Cup wait**
------------------
He returned to the club in 2024 before then joining Frankfurt permanently. He’s since made 42 appearances for the German side, including 24 appearances in the Bundesliga last season. Overall, he had 29 appearances in all competitions, including five in the Champions League.
Coventry’s attention will now be on the World Cup. Amenda is yet to feature at the tournament, sitting on the bench as an unused substitute in the group stage and for the clashes against Algeria and Colombia so far.
And it appears that until Switzerland are out, a medical cannot be completed and his move to Coventry will be delayed.
