United players return for pre-season
Harry Amass and Shea Lacey are among the Manchester United youngsters to report for pre-season training at Carrington today.
With a number of first-team stars still either absent at the World Cup or enjoying a break after their tournament came to an end, this summer presents an opportunity for some academy graduates to make their mark.
As well as Amass and Lacey, centre-back Tyler Fredricson and midfielder Jack Fletcher were also seen checking into Carrington for the first day of pre-season training.
Toby Collyer, 22, was also there. The midfielder is likely to get an opportunity early this summer but is still expected to depart, probably on loan, during the window.
There was a sprinkling of first-team stars present. Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Mason Mount were all present having missed out on England selection for the World Cup, as was Ayden Heaven. Leny Yoro was there after he failed to make the France squad. Joshua Zirkzee was also back for training after he was left out of the Netherlands squad, and Dermot Mee returned after he signed a new two-year contract.
Patrick Dorgu was back at Carrington with Denmark failing to qualify, while forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko will also get a full pre-season after Cameroon and Slovenia failed to make it to North America.
