Leeds United have announced the first of what is expected to be a series of professional contracts that have been handed out to their academy players ahead of the new season and the players beginning pre-season training next week.
Academy midfielder Callum Mills has been awarded with a two-year contract after impressing in Scott Gardner's Under-21s team last season. Still only 17-years-old, Mills played 37 games in all competitions last season, scoring five goals in the process, with 14 of those performances coming while playing for the Under-21s.
Able to play either in central midfield or in a wider attacking role, Mills has impressed the coaching staff at Thorp Arch and his reward is a first professional contract.
In confirming the news, Leeds United's statement reads; "Leeds United are pleased to announce Academy midfielder Callum Mills has signed a first professional contract with the club.
