Romano adds that current second-choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford, Altay Bayindir, is expected to leave this summer.

The 35-year-old Welsh goalkeeper, who has been described as “outstanding”, enjoyed a solid season under Daniel Farke at Elland Road, displacing major signing Lucas Perri as the number one.

Darlow made 22 appearances in the Premier League last season, helping Leeds avoid relegation to the Championship. He kept five clean sheets during that time.

United have also secured agreements for midfielders Ederson and Andrey Santos.
