Tottenham ‘reluctant’ to sanction exit – Spurs player has to make important future decision

Tottenham Hotspur have a desire to keep Pape Matar Sarr at the Premier League side next season amid the transfer links.

Last season, the Senegal international played 2,212 minutes from 37 matches and four were under Roberto De Zerbi.

The Italian arrived at Tottenham in March, and Sarr missed two matches because of an injury.

In April, Sport Witness covered claims from Turkey of Fenerbahçe’s desire to sign him this summer and also starting negotiations with the midfielder’s agent. However, the Yellow Canaries haven’t made further advances so far.

Recent claims from the UK have mentioned of Brentford and Galatasaray’s interest in the 23-year-old.

Tottenham need convincing offer

Senegal’s Wiw Sport relays about the Bees and the Turkish champions’ rumoured interest and then provides their own updates on Spurs’ stance.

Tottenham Hotspur have already signed Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali in this window. The duo, Pape Matar Sarr Rodrigo Bentancur, Archie Gray, Conor Gallagher and Lucas Bergvall as the midfielders at Roberto De Zerbi’s disposal.

Bergvall has reportedly requested to leave the club. However, the north London club who haven’t qualified for Europe next season. However, his side aren’t keen on letting him leave.

Wiw Sport claims Tottenham consider Sarr as a ‘valuable player’ and are ‘reluctant’ to part ways with him. Spurs would need a ‘substantial offer’ to change their stance. There’s no indication of the fee needed to convince them.

Spurs man’s plans unclear

Pape Matar Sarr joined Tottenham Hotspur from FC Metz in 2021 and spent the 2021/22 season on loan with the French club. Since arriving in the English capital in 2022, he has played 141 matches.

In January 2024, the English club offered him a new contract until 2030 and is valued at €30m by Transfermarkt.

Wiw Sport aren’t certain about the Senegalese’s plans for the future. In search of regular playing time and consistency, Sarr has to make an ‘important decision about the future’ this summer.

If Roberto De Zerbi doesn’t assure him an important role next season, Sarr could consider moving elsewhere.
