Leeds United star primed to explode with help of brand new signing: View

Leeds United have completed the signing of Harry Wilson this week on a free transfer, adding serious firepower from out wide.

The Whites were expected to be somewhat slow starters during this summer window. However, one statement signing has already been pushed through this week.

After the successes of Leeds’ free transfer business last summer, the 49ers have followed suit again with the capture of a sought-after Premier League rival.

Leeds United complete signing of Harry Wilson on free transfer

It’s perhaps the worst kept transfer secret of the summer. Leeds had agreed to sign Harry Wilson in late June, but there was radio silence on his whereabouts as we awaited an announcement.

However, the Wales star has since put pen to paper on a move to Elland Road. He joins on a free transfer after his Fulham contract expired at the end of June.

United have pulled off a significant coup in landing the 29-year-old. Landing Wilson, Leeds have beaten competition such as Aston Villa and others to his signature.

Wilson comes into this pre-season off the back of 10 goals and seven assists in the Premier League last season. Ironically, it was his best season to date having been blocked from moving to Leeds last summer.

Jayden Bogle primed to explode at Leeds United as he reunites with Harry Wilson

Aside from the general impact that Wilson will have as an individual on Leeds’ side, there’s the influence he can have on other players.

Most importantly, there’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin no doubt champing at the bit to get on the end of Wilson’s in-swinging delivery.

But, the effect that Wilson’s arrival should have on Jayden Bogle is even more intriguing to me. Daniel Farke has been crying out for a left-footer to drift in off the right for some time. It’s an area that we’ve lacked balance in ever since Farke’s arrival. That’s even with the likes of Dan James, Willy Gnonto, Brenden Aaronson, and even Anton Stach occupying those ‘half-spaces’.

When we’ve seen the best of Bogle in a Leeds shirt, it’s been when he’s in tandem with a dynamic winger that can go both ways. It allows him to do the same, either driving infield himself, or getting to the by-line.

Knowing where Wilson operates, cutting in on his left foot and sometimes operating centrally, it allows Bogle more freedom to get behind on the right.

Bogle’s Instagram reaction to the news is a strong suggestion he’s buzzing with Wilson’s arrival:

A lot of the time last season, Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson found themselves isolated when Noah Okafor wasn’t available. The Swiss winger was our only winger to provide consistent threat. Add Wilson on the other wing and Bogle has someone to support his threat near the edge of the box.
