28yo Man Utd star "expected to leave" as Red Devils find successor

Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is ‘expected to leave’ the club this summer as they prepare to land Karlow Darlow as his replacement.

The Turkey international joined the Red Devils from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023 and has since made only 17 appearances across all competitions.

He has been linked with a possible departure, and The Athletic claim it could be confirmed soon, with Darlow poised to join as Senne Lammens’ deputy.

Bayindir poised to depart Man Utd

The 28-year-old played second fiddle to Andre Onana between the sticks during his first two seasons.

Bayindir was promoted as the first-choice goalkeeper by former manager Ruben Amorim last term.

The Turkish ace started the first six league matches for the Red Devils, but was eventually replaced by summer signing Senne Lammens after his high-profile errors at Brentford.

Bayindir did not make another appearance for United last season despite the managerial changes, and the club have now decided to offload him and sign Darlow as his successor.

The shot-stopper could be on his way back to Turkey this summer with Besiktas having previously agreed on personal terms. The Super Lig giants could speed up the pursuit of him in the next few days.

Meanwhile, Darlow’s arrival means United have a headache on their hands, as they can register only 17 non-homegrown players in the List A Champions League squad next term.

Ayden Heaven does not qualify for List B, including Under-21s, as he has not trained at the club for at least two years. There could be a situation where he could be left out of the squad for the European matches.
