Colchester United linked with summer move for former Ipswich Town youngster

Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke is reporting that the U’s are interested in signing the King’s Lynn Town left-sided wide man to boost their midfield options.

They are also reporting that Rotherham United, Kidderminster Harriers and South Shields are keen on the 23-year-old, along with a number of Scottish sides.

Crane, who can also play as a winger, registered 23 goal contributions for National League North side King’s Lynn, last season.

He is entering the final year of his contract, at the Norfolk club.

Crane was at Colchester’s academy at a very young age before joining AFC Sudbury.

He joined Bury Town in 2019 before being snapped up by Ipswich Town, on a two-year professional contract.

Crane made two EFL Trophy appearances for Ipswich and had time on loan at Concord Rangers and Bury Town before joining Needham Market, in the summer of 2022.

He also played for Leiston, before joining King’s Lynn, for whom he scored 10 times, last season.

Colchester are looking to bolster their squad, in this summer’s transfer window.
