Coventry City have stepped forward for AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori in recent days. Some developments have now emerged on that front.
The centre-back’s 2025/26 campaign was full of ups and downs. Max Allegri trusted him but the Englishman’s performances were inconsistent, as Milan failed to qualify for the Champions League.
Allegri soon departed and the Rossoneri underwent major structural changes. Ruben Amorim has now stepped in as manager and is set to build the squad as per his requirements.
Sport Witness have covered how this could see Tomori depart this summer. The defender has been transfer listed and has attracted interest from Coventry City.
Despite initial optimism, Frank Lampard’s side are likely to struggle in a move.
Player not keen
Journalist Luca Cerchione reports on the defender’s future, appearing sure that the Sky Blues are interested.
Coventry City have spoken to Milan about a possible deal already. Despite that, the centre-back isn’t keen on the move and is waiting for better opportunities.
That is his stance right now but it can change later in the window. If other, more appealing offers don’t arrive, Tomori will consider reuniting with Lampard.
It is clear the former Chelsea player is out of Amorim’s plans. The Portuguese coach is looking for better options, with Goncalo Inacio being linked with a San Siro switch.
Coventry City can wait
Fikayo Tomori
Tomori’s time at Milan has come to an end. His current deal runs out in 2027 and now is the time to sell.
Coventry City should be patient about the move as Tomori will add much-needed top-flight experience when they really need it.
The Lampard factor will be key later in the window too. If the 28-year-old doesn’t find other options, the manager can sell the project to him.
