Juventus have been pushing to sign Aston Villa‘s Emi Martinez and fresh developments are emerging from the scenario.
Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered Sky Italia’s claim that Juve were going to have a new meeting with the keeper’s entourage. This was planned to understand the financials of the move before proceeding to talk with Villa.
This came after Aston Villa had refused to give in to Juve’s demands over a discount. As a result, the Bianconeri’s first offer was rejected, even if the player appeared keen on making a transfer happen.
The proposed meeting has taken place and there is renewed hope in Turin.
Reliance on agents
Corriere Torino report that even after the meeting, the issue in the deal remains the same. Aston Villa’s demands are proving too much for Juve, with the player having agreed to sign a three-year deal with the Italian side.
Juve have communicated their stance clearly to Martinez’s entourage. They want to get a deal done for €5m and are relying on his agents to iron out this agreement.
The 33-year-old is busy at the World Cup and that will have to end before any progress is made. The newspaper expect more movement in the next few weeks.
Gianluca Di Marzio has more information, clarifying that the Birmingham club’s demand has reduced already.
They now want €6m to €7m to sell Martinez, having come down from their demand of €15m. That seems rather generous from Villa, so would be questionable.
Massara holds the key
Emi Martinez

Before joining Juve, Massara had a spell at Roma which ended in chaos. However, during that tenure, he managed to work with Aston Villa.
This helped the Giallorossi iron out a move for Donyell Malen, who has gone on to become one of their best signings in recent memory. The opposite was true for Leon Bailey but it shows the Italian has good ties with the English club.
