Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion will battle it out to sign Sevilla’s Rubén Vargas this summer.
Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that West Ham United had initiated contact for the winger’s transfer. Given their relegation, they surely can’t compete should Spurs or the Seagulls push forward.
There’s also likely to be further interest as the summer goes on.

Orgullo Biri now claim Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion are keen on Rubén Vargas.
The Premier League duo have been keeping a close watch on the Switzerland international at the World Cup. He’s managed two goals and an assist from five matches.
Switzerland face Argentina in the quarter final this weekend. This gives club another opportunity to monitor him.

The Swiss international has a contract until 2029 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €12m. The highest was €13m in November 2020, when he was at FC Augsburg.
Sevilla signed Rubén Vargas from the German club in January 2025 and are willing to part ways with him for €15m this summer. That looks great value for the 27-year-old.
Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion would have no issues paying that amount.
The player’s sale can help the Andalusian club improve their finances and adjust the wage bill.
Vargas is ‘exploring the possibility of making the leap to the Premier League’. This would rule out the Championship side, giving both Spurs and Brighton an edge. However, his preference among the Premier League duo isn’t clear.
