Nottingham Forest transfer latest as ultimatum issued and €25m fee emerges

The biggest wave Nottingham Forest have made in the transfer market so far has been sanctioning the British record departure of Elliot Anderson.

As regards arrivals, so far it’s Oliver Glasner in the head coach’s hot-seat and Scottish teen Boyd Fraser who as a 16-year-old goes into the youth set-up.

That hasn’t stopped Forest being linked with a host of different players – and some of theirs being connected with moves away from the City Ground.

Here’s a round-up of the latest rumours.

Suitors circling

Neco Williams has caught the eye of Nottingham Forest’s Premier League rivals.

According to the BBC Newcastle United and Manchester United have both ‘registered interest’ in Williams who has emerged as one of the Reds’ most consistent performers in recent seasons.

This interest comes against the backdrop of talks regarding a new contract to extend the 25-year-old’s stay at the City Ground.

Williams joined Forest from Liverpool in the summer of 2022 and signed a four-year deal. That was extended last summer and now runs until 2029 but his performances have warranted further discussions.

So far Williams has made 160 appearances for Forest, including an impressive 53 in all competitions last season. The vast majority of those came at left back but his ability to also operate on the right is a valuable asset to Forest.

Forest are well-stocked on the right with Nicola Savona - who could leave - and Ola Aina as front-line full backs, with Zach Abbott also having played the position.

Williams has been the first choice left back for the last couple of seasons, though, albeit Aina can also play on that side and they now have Luca Netz.

The Reds would be reluctant to lose another key player, having cashed in on Anderson’s meteoric rise it is thought their position as regards the Premier League’s financial controls is strong.

Forest have seen one bid for Feyenoord youngster Givairo Read rejected but are expected to return with another offer.

That’s according to Martijn Krabbendam on Voetbal International's Rondje WK whose comments are picked up by 1908.nl.

He says Feyenoord would like to keep the 20-year-old for another year and notes he is under contract until 2029 meaning they can demand a ‘substantial fee’.

Krabbendam said: “If an offer of around €25million is made for him and he wants to leave, you can have a contract until 2029, but then you also have to consider the player's interests. I think Nottingham Forest will come back, and soon too, and that Feyenoord will eventually have to sit down at the negotiating table."

Reports in Spain say Sevilla have issued an ultimatum to Nottingham Forest linked left back Joaquin Oso, as speculation about his future mounts.

Spanish website Vamos Mi Sevilla claims the La Liga outfit have told him to renew his contract, or with one season left on his existing deal, accept a transfer.

They say negotiations are at a ‘complete standstill’ and cite the player’s agent’s demands as a stumbling block.

The report claims five top tier teams have already enquired about the 23-year-old, including Forest, Tottenham, Newcastle and Fiorentina.

While there has been mention of a €20m release clause Vamos Mi Sevilla say he could be ‘formally placed on the market’ for a starting price of €10m.
