Ex-Blackpool striker makes Championship switch following promotion

Ex-Blackpool striker Kyle Joseph has joined Middlesbrough.

Blackpool are set to profit from a fresh move for one of their former players - with Kyle Joseph departing Hull City in a permanent deal.

Having joined the Seasiders from Swansea City in the summer of 2023, the striker spent 18 months at Bloomfield Road.

Due to injury and selection, the Wigan Athletic youth product endured a frustrating first season in Tangerine under Neil Critchley - scoring just one goal in 30 League One outings.

The appointment of Steve Bruce a month into the following campaign rejuvenated the 24-year-old’s fortunes, as he became a key player for the club.

After finding the back of the net seven times in the first half of the 2024/25 season, Joseph caught the eye of Hull, and ultimately made a £2.5million move to the MKM Stadium.

While his first six months didn’t bring any goal contributions, he was able to settle in Humberside last term, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 46 Championship outings.

Unfortunately for Joseph, he missed the Tigers play-off final success in May due to injury, and now won’t be part of the Premier League challenge at the MKM Stadium next season.

The forward will instead be back in the second tier, having joined Middlesbrough, who were the team defeated at Wembley by Hull, for an undisclosed fee on a four-year deal.

Blackpool are set to benefit from this deal, with a sell-on clause included in his Seasiders sale.
