Vanja Milinkovic-Savic could be on his way out of Napoli and Hull City are making progress for a move.
The Serbian joined Napoli from Torino last summer and impressed under Antonio Conte. He was usually the starter, showinghimself to be more than capable of holding the spot.
At Torino, he had established himself as one of the best keepers in Serie A. This led to Leeds United pursuing a move for him. Sport Witness covered that, as he decided to join the Partenopei instead.
Despite having a contract that until 2030, the keeper finds his Napoli future uncertain. Hull City are now pushing a deal.
Tigers want conditional obligation
Today’s Corriere dello Sport goes a step further on Hull City’s interest in the Serbian.
They are clear that ‘negotiations are ongoing’ between the two clubs Milinkovic-Savic is on his way out and his exit would be a major source of income for Max Allegri’s side.
Hull City are pushing for an initial loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy. That would depend on them staying in the Premier League, but Napoli aren’t satisfied. They are seeking a permanent deal or a guaranteed obligation to buy.
Sergej Jakirović’s side would need to shell out €18m, with the figure set to hand Napoli a capital gain.
The Italian giants aren’t opposed to a sale. They have identified another ex-Manchester United talent in Matej Kovar as a replacement, with Guglielmo Vicario also on the shortlist.
Wise move for reliable keeper
Vanja
The 29-year-old is at a point of his career where he knows he’s good enough to be a starter, and that may not be the case where he is next season. He has done quite well at two Italian clubs, also playing in the Champions League last season at Napoli.
Hull City’s idea of an obligation to buy based on survival is an understandable. However, it’s equally understandable that Napoli aren’t convinced.
Therefore a permanent transfer looks a likelier route to success.
