Newcastle United show interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Moritz Nicolas

Sky Germany has reported that Newcastle United have shown an interest in BorussiaMönchengladbach goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas.

The Premier League side have already begun offloading key players this summer as a rebuild gets underway. As a result, the Magpies are reportedly eyeing up a €12m offer for Gladbach’s number one.

As Sky Germany clarifies, Newcastle are yet to formally submit an offer to Gladbach for the 28-year-old shot-stopper.

Nicolas’ contract with BorussiaMönchengladbach runs until 2029, and did include a clause for this summer in case of a transfer. However, this has since expired, meaning that the Bundesliga side are fee to negotiate a price for their number one.

Last season, Nicolas played in all of BorussiaMönchengladbach’s 37 competitive games, always playing a full 90-minutes. What’s more, Nicolas made the most saves of any goalkeeper in the Bundesliga last term.

According toTransferMarkt, Nicolas’ current transfer value is just €8m.
