Newcastle United Women have signed Hungarian international defender Hanna Németh, bringing an end to her four-year spell with Frauen Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.

She made 88 appearances for Bremen and helped them reach the DFB-Pokal final in the 2024/25 season.

Four years in the US college system saw her play for the Indiana Hoosiers, after which she returned home to sign for Ferencváros.

Internationally, the 5’11” centre-back has so far earned 29 senior caps for her country.

Nemeth told newcastleunited.com: “I’m super excited, I know Newcastle to be a club with insane tradition. The ambition to get to the WSL is something that I really want to be part of.

“This felt like the perfect place for me to develop as a player, and I’m really excited to get going.”

Manager Tanya Oxtoby added: “Hanna brings a lot of experience with her after four years in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen.

“She is a physical central defender that also has the composure in possession that I like to see across the backline, while also providing us with versatility in that position. We are looking forward to welcoming her to the group.”
