Coventry City fans are getting twitchier by the day as they await news on the club’s first new signing of the summer.
The Sky Blues clearly need strengthening to make the squad Premier League ready and the club have been linked with plenty of names, mostly from abroad, but yet to announce any new arrivals at the CBS Arena.
Here we take a look at the latest names being linked with interest from Frank Lampard as he strives to get his recruitment right to build a competitive team for top flight football.
Aurèle Amenda:
The Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back is set to join Coventry, with just a medical check yet to be done. German newspaper BILD report that a €20m (£17m) move including bonuses is on the cards for the 22-year-old defender.
The article says the deal is ‘just missing the medical check’ which has been delayed due to the centre-half still being at the World Cup with Switzerland who are through to the quarterfinals, where they take on Argentina on Sunday.
Anthony Dennis
The Nigerian midfielder is set to make a decision on his future in the coming days following interest from a number of clubs across Europe, according to an exclusive report by Footy-Africa.
The 23-year-old is expected to leave Turkish side Göztepe this summer, despite having two years remaining on his contract, with the club willing to listen to offers.
The Sky Blues had been regarded as the frontrunner to sign the defensive midfielder after positive talks over a potential move. However, Footy-Africa understands that interest from the German Bundesliga has intensified, with RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt emerging as contenders for his signature.

Carl Rushworth bombshell
According to the Daily Mail, Brighton value their coveted 25-year-old goalkeeper at a whopping £30million. Previous reports from Sky Sports have claimed that the Sky Blues had an initial bid of £20m knocked back and have since had a second offer rejected by the Seagulls.
The latest figures have fans divided, with plenty believing it’s time for City to move on rather than be held to ransom for the player who has made it clear he’d love to make a permanent move to the CBS Arena.
Alternative keeper latest
Coventry’s interest in Everton No.2 Mark Travers appears to be gathering pace with reports that the Toffees are looking for fresh back-up for England keeper Jordan Pickford.
According to GiveMeSport, David Moyes has been looking at Wolves’ stopper Sam Johnstone. The 33-year-old, who has won four caps for England during his career, is looking to play more regular football and is understood to be open to a move away from Molineux, having spent the majority of the 2025/26 season on the bench as understudy to Jose Sa.
Sky Sports News have backed up reports that Coventry have made inquiries about Travers as their pursuit of Rushworth drags on and claim Wrexham are also interested in the goalkeeper.
Tomori and Loftus-Cheek develoments
Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo reports on the two former Chelsea players have been transfer listed by Milan’s new boss Ruben Amorim, with the Italian club expected to sell the England internationals.
Coventry are claimed to have ‘made enquiries’ about the centre-back who spent a season with Frank Lampard at Derby County.
As things stand, the report claims, Milan would be happy to sell the player for anywhere between €15m and €20m. Tomori’s current deal at the San Siro runs until 2027.
However, Sportmediaset in Italy insist that Tomori has already ruled out the possibility of joining Coventry, even if it would mean a reunion with his Lampard. He considers it too big a step down and, the report claims, he is prepared to wait for more appetising offers to come along.
Lampard has also been linked with interest in midfielder Loftus-Cheek.

Ross Barkley ‘talks’
GiveMeSport are reporting that their sources have indicated that discussions between Coventry and Aston Villa over a move for Barkley are progressing well although, it is claimed, there is no sense of urgency from either side as negotiations continue.
The 32-year-old is a valued member of Unai Emery’s squad but it’s understood the former Chelsea player, who has worked under Lampard at Stamford Bridge, is keen for more game time after being limited to just seven Premier League starts last season.
The experienced midfielder was out in Marbella at the same training complex as the Sky Blues this week where he was working with his own personal training and NOT training with the Coventry squad, but it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that he and Lampard would have chatted at some stage.
