The newly-signed defender is settling in with Albion and has already worked on the training ground under the guidance of Fabian Hurzeler.
The Seagulls will be delighted to get him involved so early after his summer move from Leeds.
Club chairman Tony Bloom has already said he expects Struijk to quickly hit the ground running and be a big contributor in the Premier League.
But he could well have been at the Los Angeles Stadium this evening.
Roberto Martinez asked Struijk to play for him when he was head coach of Belgium.
But Struijk, who grew up in the Netherlands, preferred to strive for a place in the Oranje squad.
And he will hoping to fulfil that ambition if he can impress with the Seagulls.
Struijk was born just south of the border in Belgium and has dual nationality.
Martinez was keen to add him to the Red Devils’ set-up.
Struijk said some time after: “Back then, Roberto Martinez was still the coach.
“He was the one who first contacted me. He let me know it was a possibility.
“That’s still something that lingers in your mind but for me it’s a dream to play for the Dutch national team.”
Martinez made the approach in early 2021 amid concern over the ages of his leading central defenders in Jan Vertonghen (33), Toby Alderweireld (31) and Thomas Vermaelen (35).
There is a quote on record from early in Struijk’s career that he would be open to an invitation from Belgium.
But he played age group football for Holland and has backed himself to break into the senior squad in an area where they have been very strong in recent years.
Martinez did not totally close the door but said: "I don't want to start a war between two football associations.
“He will therefore not be in my squad but that does not mean that the file is closed."
Struijk was named in a 39-man provisional Holland squad by Louis van Gaal for the 2022 World Cup but did not make the final cut and remains uncapped at senior level.
It would appear the Dutch are coming towards a changing of the guard given that Virgil van Dijk is 35 and Stefan de Vrij 34.
Micky van der Ven, 25, looks a long-term successor and Jan Paul van Hecke, 26, is coming into his peak years.
Jurrien Timber is 25 and Jorrel Hato just 20 so Struijk, who turns 27 next month, might need to make a breakthrough soon if it is to happen.
That all starts with pre-season work at Lancing while the nation of his birth face the Spanish.
Brandon Mechele of Club Brugge and Nathan Ngoy of Lille are expected to combine at centre-back for Belgium in the quarter-final with Albion’s Maxim De Cuyper again at left-back, potentially up against Lamine Yamal.
