'Bouncing around' - Louie Barry makes candid admission after switch from Aston Villa to…

Louie Barry has opened up on his decision to leave Aston Villa for Sheffield Wednesday

Louie Barry has revealed he is ready to settle down after sealing a permanent switch from Aston Villa to Sheffield Wednesday.

The 23-year-old spent six years at Villa Park but managed just one senior outing, instead accumulating experience out on loan.

He was sent out on a temporary basis on nine separate occasions, representing the likes of Sheffield United and Hull City. Stockport County borrowed Barry on three occasions, with Wednesday’s new sporting director Simon Wilson overseeing the deals.

Louie Barry looking to lay down roots

In his first in-house media interview, Barry said: “You don’t really want to be bouncing around every six months for years, every year. You want to just be settled, find a home.

“You want to build with the club. You want to progress with the club. To call a club your own is just a great feeling. I haven’t had that as much as some other guys have in their careers, so when I heard the thought of ‘we could make this a permanent’, I wanted to just do it straight away.

“The feeling of the club at the moment feels amazing. Speaking to Simon, the way he wants to build the club for the next few years is exactly what I want in my own career as well. I feel like I can progress at the same speed the club wants to, which is fantastic.

“Don’t get me wrong - it’s made me the person I am. It’s made me very mature for my age but I think it’s time I settle down and find a home and I think that’ll come out in my performances.”

Sheffield Wednesday ‘excitement’

Barry was a prolific scorer across his three spells at Stockport, establishing himself as one of League One’s most exciting attacking outlets.

A former England youth international who spent time in Barcelona’s academy, he has been widely lauded as a coup for Wednesday.

Barry said: “It’s something that’s been in the pipeline for a little bit now. I couldn’t wait to to get it over the line. When you’re looking at my career, you look at the loans I’ve had, how many I’ve had. It’s just about finding a home.

“The sense of feeling I got, even when I walked through the door now, I just feel this is the place I want to be for the next part of my career. It feels like home.

“The connection I’ve got with Simon Wilson, the best part of my career has been at Stockport and he was an integral part of that. He’s just been really, really good. I felt excitement straight away, as soon as I heard about it. I just couldn’t wait to get really into it and get involved.”
