Itfc Women Strengthen Squad With Three New Signings

Ipswich Town Women have made a major statement in the summer window, securing three permanent signings as Aimee Palmer, Georgia Hunter and Eilidh Adams all join the club ahead of the new Women’s Super League 2 season. The trio bring leadership, experience, pedigree and proven quality across midfield, defence and attack, a clear sign of Ipswich’s ambition as the programme continues to grow under Technical Director Sean Burt and Head Coach David Wright.

Aimee Palmer Joins Town on a Three-Year Deal

Ipswich have completed the signing of Aimee Palmer on a three‑year deal following her departure from Southampton. The 25‑year‑old midfielder arrives with WSL experience, two Championship titles, and England youth honours up to U21 level.

Palmer began her senior career at Bristol City aged just 16, before joining Manchester United and helping them win the Championship. A loan spell at Sheffield United followed before returning to Bristol City for a second stint, ending with another league title. She later moved to Leicester City and then to Southampton in 2024.

Palmer says Ipswich’s project made the decision simple.

“I’m really excited to be here at Ipswich. After a few calls with Sean and David listening about the plans here, the decision was a no‑brainer for me. I have a lot of experience to add to the group having won this league twice in my career, and I now can’t wait to get to work with all my new teammates.”

Burt believes Palmer’s arrival reflects the club’s ambition.

“Aimee’s a fantastic signing for the club and what she’ll bring not only on the pitch but off it will be invaluable this season. Aimee was a standout player in the division last term, and along with her WSL experience, speaks volumes for our ambition for the Women’s team programme as well as what our environment can offer someone of her quality.”

Georgia Hunter Joins Town on a Two-Year Deal

Ipswich have also secured the permanent signing of Georgia Hunter from Scottish champions Hearts. The central defender joins on a two‑year deal after 12 seasons with the Jambos, where she captained the club to their first ever SWPL title last term and made close to 300 appearances.

Hunter joined the Hearts Academy at 12, progressed through the youth system, earned promotion to the SWPL in 2019, and later lifted the league trophy as captain. She also represented Scotland at U23 level.

Hunter says Ipswich’s ambition was a major draw.

“My time at Hearts has allowed me to experience what it takes to win and I have definitely improved across my time there. The ambition this club has got is very positive and the progression the team showed last season shows the direction it’s heading in. I’m really looking forward to my first campaign in WSL2 and now can’t wait to get out on the pitch.”

Burt says Hunter’s leadership and athleticism will elevate the back line.

“Geo will be a great addition to the team. She’s very adaptable in possession and will bring a great deal of athleticism to our backline. Having been a title‑winning captain in Scotland she’ll have a great deal of experience to draw upon, and that’ll also benefit the squad during different points of the season ahead.”

Eilidh Adams Joins Town on a Two-Year Deal

The third addition is Eilidh Adams, who joins after nine impressive years with Hibernian. The forward broke into the first team at just 15, won the SWPL Young Player of the Year award in 2020/21, and last season scored 14 goals with three assists, earning Hibs’ Staff Player of the Year award.

“I wanted to take that next step in my career and after talks with the manager it just felt like the right place for me to do that. It’s my first time away from home and Ipswich seems like a really nice place to be so I’m really excited to get going.”

Burt says Adams brings pedigree and end‑product.

“Eilidh is a fantastic signing for us and has been a proven goalscorer for a number of years. She is a senior international and league‑winner who brings a magnitude of experience for a player entering her prime years and we’re delighted she chose to join Ipswich Town.”

A Statement Summer for Town Women

With Palmer, Hunter and Adams all arriving permanently, Ipswich have added leadership, experience, versatility and goals across three key areas of the pitch. The trio represent a clear statement of intent as Town continue building a squad capable of competing strongly in the Women’s Super League 2 and pushing the programme forward.
