Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest are among the clubs showing interest in Palmeiras midfielder Maurício. The Brazilian side now expect a sizeable offer if they are to sanction a sale this summer.
Journalist Diego Firmino reports that Forest are monitoring the 25-year-old. Palmeiras are hoping to receive between €22m (£19m) and €25m (£21.6m) for the attacking midfielder. The Brazilian club currently own 85% of the player’s economic rights.
Nottingham Forest are not alone in tracking Maurício. Clubs in Italy, including Roma and Atalanta, have also been linked with the former Internacional player in recent months, suggesting there could be competition if the Premier League side decide to step up their interest.
World Cup has boosted his profile
Maurício’s stock has risen significantly over the past weeks. After recently becoming a naturalised Paraguayan citizen, he represented Paraguay at the 2026 World Cup. He emerged as one of their standout attacking players.
He scored against the United States during the tournament. The midfielder impressed with his creativity, movement and composure in the final third. Those performances have only strengthened Palmeiras’ position as they prepare for interest from Europe.
His club form has also been consistent. Maurício has managed four goals and two assists in 30 appearances during the current campaign, following an impressive 2025 season in which he recorded 10 goals and 11 assists across 53 matches.
Why Maurício could appeal to Forest
At 25, Maurício is entering what many would consider the prime years of his career. A left-footed attacking midfielder, he is comfortable operating as a No.10, from either flank or in other advanced midfield roles.
His game is built around intelligent combination play and quick decision-making. He can find space between opposition lines. He also carries a threat from distance thanks to his powerful shooting. In addition, his tactical awareness allows him to adapt to different attacking structures.
Those qualities could make him an attractive option for Nottingham Forest. The club are assessing ways to add more creativity and versatility ahead of the new season.
For now, there is no indication that a formal bid has arrived. However, Palmeiras already appear to have a clear valuation in mind. With interest building across Europe after an impressive World Cup, Forest may need to move quickly if they decide Maurício is the right fit.
