The England international has been a key part of the club for six years.
Villa striker Ollie Watkins is the subject of surprise yet serious interest from Fenerbahce.
The Turkish club are considering whether to test Villa’s resolve regarding their all-time Premier League top scorer.
Watkins, currently away with England at the World Cup, has two years remaining on his contract and finished last season in arguably the best form of his career.
The 30-year-old, who struggled for form through most of the season, scored 13 goals in his final 16 matches to help Unai Emery’s team to a fourth-placed Premier League finish and glory in the Europa League.
Villa would be reluctant to let Watkins depart, despite the fact they face a balancing act in the transfer window and need to move players out before they can strengthen their squad.
But Fenerbahce’s interest is thought to be genuine.
Watkins is the latest Villa player to be targeted by another club this summer with speculation already surrounding the futures of Emi Martinez and Morgan Rogers.
Villa have made clear their reluctance to let Martinez leave while they also want to keep Rogers, who is wanted by Premier League champions Arsenal.
One of Villa’s own targets, Flamengo right-back Emerson Royal, says his focus is purely on his current club despite talks over a potential move.
Emery wants the former Barcelona and Tottenham man to provide cover and competition for Matty Cash.
Royal told Itatiaia Esporte: "As I said, until nothing is decided, my head is always at Flamengo.
"I am very happy to receive this proposal, as it shows that my work is being done well. My head is at Flamengo, but I don't know about the future."
