Bournemouth eye former Tottenham player after outstanding World Cup – Club wants €35m

Former Tottenham defender Davinson Sánchez enjoyed an outstanding World Cup with Colombia and is now attracting interest from Bournemouth, according to reports from Turkey.

Colombia were eliminated by Switzerland on penalties in the last 16, with Sánchez missing his spot-kick in the shootout.

That disappointment did little to overshadow the tournament he produced, however.AS Colombia has confirmed claims first reported by Sporx in Turkey that the Galatasaray defender is being watched by the Cherries as well as a number of other clubs.

The 30-year-old is also attracting interest from Como and Inter Milan. His performances for Colombia have helped put him back on the radar of clubs in Europe’s leading leagues.

Galatasaray stance remains firm

Davinson Sánchez is currently considered unavailable for transfer by Galatasaray. According to the Turkish reports, the club reached that position after receiving manager Okan Buruk’s assessment.

Galatasaray are therefore not negotiating with any interested side at this stage. Their stance could change if an offer approaches €35m (£30.3m).

That asking price is considerably higher than Como’s reported opening proposal. The Italian club are said to have offered €20m (£17.3m), which Galatasaray rejected.

Inter Milan are also credited with interest, increasing the competition facing Bournemouth.

Why Bournemouth are considering a move

Davinson Sánchez would bring experience and an immediate understanding of the Premier League to Bournemouth’s defence.

He made more than 200 appearances for Tottenham before joining Galatasaray in 2023. Since moving to Turkey, he has rebuilt his reputation and established himself as one of the club’s key defenders.

He played 45 matches for Galatasaray last season and scored twice. Across his spell in Istanbul, he has registered 10 goals and four assists from 121 appearances.

Those numbers have come across almost 10,000 minutes of football. He has started 111 of those matches and won five trophies since arriving in Turkey.

Sánchez is also under contract until 2029 and reportedly earns €4.5m (£3.9m) per year. Galatasaray are therefore under no contractual pressure to sell.

Bournemouth’s interest appears to remain at the monitoring stage. The next step would be deciding whether Sánchez’s experience justifies moving closer to Galatasaray’s €35m (£30.3m) demand.

The Turkish club insist he is staying for now. Their position may prove less firm if Bournemouth or one of his Italian suitors delivers the right offer.
