Leeds hijack possible to sign 'world-class' star as Premier League rivals line up move - report

Premier League clubs continue to jeopardise Leeds United's transfer plans, and Aston Villa are considering moving for one of their targets.

Leeds have already been handed a setback in their pursuit of Southampton midfielder Shea Charles. Crystal Palace have reportedly looked to hijack their move for the Northern Irish youngster and the chance to play in Europe could take him to Selhurst Park.

The Peacocks haven't been deterred, and GIVEMESPORT sources understand that the club made a second offer worth £25m. The race for Charles is open, as is the case for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.

Aston Villa Jeopardise Leeds Pursuit of Suzuki

Zion Suzuki

Leeds are eyeing Suzuki, although the 'world-class' Japanese shot-stopper has reportedly turned down a proposed move. A report from TEAMtalk claims that he is assessing his options amid interest from several Champions League clubs.

That means there is still a chance Daniel Farke will land the 23-year-old, and Villa appear to hold the cards regarding where his future lies. The Villans have Suzuki on their list of potential Emiliano Martinez replacements amid links to a move to Juventus.

Should the veteran Argentine head to Turin as he desires, it would pave the way for Suzuki to replace him. He's coming off a superb World Cup campaign, earning plenty of praise for Japan's run to the Round of 32.

Suzuki is Leeds' top goalkeeping target, but Villa are lingering, casting doubt on a move to Elland Road. The Whites are reportedly considering alternatives while playing a waiting game over their pursuit of the Japanese goalie.

Leeds Desperately Need New Goalkeeper

Daniel Farke

Leeds are in dire need of a new goalkeeper after Ilan Meslier left as a free agent to join Arsenal. Karl Darlow is on the brink of joining Manchester United after his contract also expired.

Lucas Perri is the Peacocks' only viable goalkeeper option and that puts the club's transfer chiefs under pressure to sign at least one new shot-stopper. Whether that will be Suzuki is still to be determined but he'd be a brilliant signing.

There might be concerns over his lack of experience, although he's thrived in high-pressure situations at the World Cup. Farke will ideally want a new goalie in his squad for pre-season as he prepares his squad for a second season in the top flight.
