Juventus have kept the door open for Dusan Vlahovic to return as he considers re signing for the club this summer following the expiry of his contract.
The Serbian was the club’s highest earner, and Juventus wanted him to accept a significant pay cut to remain with the team. However, he was reluctant to agree to the proposed reduction and instead allowed his contract to run down.
DV9 believed it did not make sense for him to earn the same salary as Jonathan David, and he felt he would secure a better financial package elsewhere. However, that has not proved to be the case.
Juventus remain open to a return
Besiktas is the only club that has agreed to offer him a substantial salary, but he does not want to move to Turkiye. As a result, he has re-established contact with Juventus.
The Old Lady remain open to bringing him back into the squad, but the club have set out several conditions that must be met before any agreement can be reached.
According to Tuttosport, his proposed new contract must be for a minimum of two seasons, and he must also be prepared to accept a salary of around 6 million euros net per season. That figure is the same as the wages earned by Jonathan David and Kenan Yildiz, which has become the club’s latest benchmark for its top earners.
Contract length remains the key issue
While the financial terms appear to have been outlined, the length of any potential agreement remains an important sticking point between the two parties.
Vlahovic would like to sign a one-year contract and use the opportunity to prove his fitness in Turin before deciding on his long-term future. However, Juventus are not prepared to offer him a deal of that duration.
As things stand, the club remain willing to welcome him back, but only if he accepts both the salary on offer and the minimum two-season contract that has been proposed. Unless those conditions are met, an agreement is unlikely to be finalised.
