Ex-Hibs striker heads south to join former teammate in 'next step' Ipswich transfer

The 22-year-old Scotland internationalist left the Leith club this summer, following a goal-filled spell in the Scottish capital.

Adams picked up the Hibs 2025/26 Staff Player of the Year award, after scoring 17 goals and setting up three assists for Hibs in all competitions. She also added to her four senior Scotland caps, replacing former teammate Kathleen McGovern in the 81st minute of a 6-0 Women's World Cup qualifying victory over Israel.

She isn't the only Hibs forward making the switch to the WSL 2 this summer, either.

20-year-old Rosie Livingstone also signed a two-year deal with the Tractor Girls, after Ipswich activated the relevant clause in her Hibs contract.

Speaking for the first time since the move, Adams anticipated the new challenge that awaits her in the English second tier, explaining why she felt that Ipswich was the right club for this next step in her career.

"I wanted to take that next step in my career," she said, "and after talks with the manager, it just felt like the right place for me to do that.

“It’s my first time away from home and Ipswich seems like a really nice place to be, so I’m really excited to get going.”

In a social media post last month, Adams reflected on a 'special' period of her career at Hibs.

The 22-year-old – who helped Hibs to lift their first SWPL1 title in 18 years during the 2024/25 season – became a fan favourite at Meadowbank, with 89 goals in 181 appearances.

"To represent the badge for nearly a decade," she said, "has been a dream come true for the little girl who wanted to grow up to be a Hibs player.

"To the incredible supporters, to everyone behind the scenes, and to my amazing teammates and coaches – thank you for being the very best. I will always treasure the memories we created together."

A number of players have left the Leith side this summer, with Joelle Murray and her staff facing a rebuild before the new season begins in August.

Stacey Papadopoulos, Noa Schumacher, Lauren Doran-Barr and Poppy Lawson have all departed, whilst Republic of Ireland internationalist Ciara Grant called time on her career.

Hannah Jordan was announced as a new Celtic player on Thursday afternoon, joining former Hibs Women manager Grant Scott in Glasgow.

Top goal-scorer Kathleen McGovern also departed the club, after a two-year stint in Leith that saw her score 51 goals. The 10-time capped Scotland internationalist is yet to announce her next club.

In an interview with The Herald's Matthew Lindsay, head coach Murray admitted that there is now 'pressure' on her to replace a number of key players, but argued that it is a pressure that she relishes and a chance to create something new.

“We need to know where we sit in the football pyramid," she said. "We know that above the SWPL is the WSL2 and the WSL1. Players with aspirations to go to that next level will inevitably move on.

“But it's up to us as a club and up to other clubs to find the next one who is going to come through and develop. Yes, there's a lot of expectation on my shoulders to do that. But it's a situation and a pressure that I thrive on. I'm optimistic.

“There has been a turnover of players, like there always is at any club, at Hibs over the summer. But that actually gives me the chance to build a new team and to build it my way.”
