Manager Mowbray
On this day (July 11th) in 2015 the Sky Blues were preparing for a League One season under Tony Mowbray with a series of pre-season friendlies all played away from the Ricoh (given that City’s landlords were then Wasps RFC).
Games against Portsmouth, Luton Town, Cambridge United, Leamington Town and Oxford United awaited (none of which were won) but today City kicked off with a game against near neighbours Nuneaton Town.

‘The Borough’ often featured in the pre-season games over the noughties and there was a crowd of 1,502 at Liberty Way with about 600 members of the Sky Blue Army present. It also happened to be the ‘Away Day’ for the CCFPA committee who were out in force to support the Sky Blues!

Sadly there were no goals to enjoy in the encounter which was very much a ‘first go’ as far as both teams were concerned with plenty of team changes during the game. One obvious first half highlight for the visitors was the impressive form of a youngPortuguese man in black boots (below), full name Rúben Barcelos De Sousa Lameiras.
