Coventry City transfer target Fikayo Tomori has asked AC Milan for time to evaluate a potential move back to England, it has been claimed.
According to sempremilan.com – one of the main English speaking websites dedicated to covering the Italian club – the “revolving door is in motion at Milan,” as new boss Ruben Amorim begins to stamp his mark.
And the centre-back department, it says, is an area that’s likely to be affected following the arrival of Spanish defender Mario Gila this week ahead of signing an expected five-year deal.
Calciomercato.com indicate that the transfer of the right-sided centre-back pushes Tomori 'closer to the exit door'.
The Englishman, who is well known to Frank Lampard, having worked with the Sky Blues boss at both Chelsea and during a year-long loan spell at Derby County, is contracted until 2027, with negotiations over a renewal having been stalled for several months, says the report.
Sempremilan claim that Tomori “has opened the door to leaving Milan this transfer window” and has already discussed the matter with his “entourage”.
It further states that the Rossoneri hope to raise at least €15m (£12.7m) from his sale, stating that “several inquiries” have been received from Premier League clubs.
The most concrete is said to be from Coventry. However, Tomori is said to have asked for time to weigh the pros and cons of moving to Coventry and reuniting with Lampard.
Lampard is already understood to have secured the services of Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Aurele Amenda who is currently on World Cup duty with Switzerland. City are widely reported to have all but done the deal but are just awaiting a medical to complete the formalities ahead of the 22-year-old’s move to the CBS Arena.
