An England youth international midfielder has signed his first professional contract with Leeds United.

England youth international attacking midfielder Sam Alker has signed his first professional contract with Leeds United, penning terms on a two-year deal.

Alker, 17, moved into United’s under-21s side from the under-18s towards the end of last season and the attacking midfielder netted a brace in his first start for the 21s against Leicester City.

The midfielder is an England youth international having made his debut for the Young Lions against Italy in 2024 and the teenager has now signed his first professional contract with Leeds, penning terms until 2028.

A Leeds United statement read: “Leeds United are pleased to announce Academy midfielder Sam Alker has signed a first professional contract with the club.

“The highly-rated 17-year-old will remain at Thorp Arch until 2028 as he continues his development with the Whites after penning a two-year deal.

“Last campaign, the versatile midfielder made 20 appearances for Rob Etherington’s Under-18s side and his impressive performances led to three Under-21s outings towards the end of the term.

“A debut for Scott Gardner’s team came on Wearside away at Sunderland with Alker then netting a brace on his first start in the final match of the season against Leicester City.

“Capped by England at youth level, the midfielder made his U16 debut for the Young Lions against Italy in 2024.

“Everyone at Leeds United would like congratulate Sam and we are excited to see his continued development within the Academy.”
