Newcastle United £25.5m transfer offer revealed by player's agent

The latest transfer talk from Newcastle United as the Magpies look to add more new faces to their squad during the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United have already freshened up their wing options during the summer transfer window - and one report has claimed the Magpies tried to lure another wideman to St James Park.

Anthony Gordon became the first member of Eddie Howe’s squad to leave the club this summer when he completed a big money move to La Liga champions Barcelona after Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich had shown an interest in the England international. The Magpies moved quickly to replace Gordon when they secured Hoffenheim and Ivory Coast star Bazoumana Toure in a deal believed to be worth an initial £43m - and he will compete with Harvey Barnes for a place on the left-hand side Howe’s attack.

There were reports throughout the second half of last season suggesting Newcastle had an interest in Union Saint-Gilloise winger Anan Khalaili after he impressed throughout his two-year stay with United’s former Champions League opponents. However, the Israel international has moved close to joining Serie A giants Internazionale in recent days - despite claims from the player’s father suggesting Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town made firm moves for his services.

Speaking on 103 FM Radio, he said: “There were a lot of enquiries from teams. Now I’m revealing this to you because we can talk about it: Newcastle, Crystal Palace, and Ipswich, who put a €30m price tag on him to sign him, and he didn’t want to. The Belgians were a bit persistent with us, saying there was a high price tag. Then suddenly Cagliari, Atalanta, Napoli, and many other teams got involved.

“What gave Inter the confidence to go all out for him was the Champions League, they saw him there. He finished second in tackles, second in ground and aerial duels, and second in clearances and key passes. He broke every record there. I come from the profession, so I don’t get excited that quickly. I had tears in my eyes when they told me there was a deal. This is the first time I’ve cried in my life. This kid made me cry.”
