World Cup ace set to join Hull City in timely boost to Sergej Jakirovic's Premier League squad

Hull City are closing in on at least three new signings as the players prepare to return to pre-season training on Monday morning, in what will be a major boost to Sergej Jakirovic's preparations for the Premier League.

Swedish World Cup star Elliot Stroud is expected to arrive on a permanent deal after the Tigers agreed a fee with Mjallby to sign the 24-year-old left-sided performer.

Stroud played in all four of Sweden's games at the World Cup, including their last 32 defeat to eventual semi-finalists France, and is expected to be signed in the next 48 hours.

The Tigers are understood to be confident of getting the deal over the line, amid interest from Italian sides Genoa and Cagliari, with reports suggesting they'd seen €2.5m (£2.1m) offers rebuffed. It's believed he will pen a three-year deal with a 12-month option, with the East Yorkshire club paying in the region of £3m.

Before joining Mjällby, where he's made 104 appearances, scoring 26 goals with an impressive 14 assists, he played 38 times for IK Oddevold but is now on the cusp of moving to the Premier League.

City have been in talks with Napoli's Serbian goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, but HullLive understands they're close to signing another player from a European club, with talks at an advanced stage.

As Hull Live reported on Saturday, former loanee Oscar Zambrano will make a permanent move to the MKM Stadium after the Tigers agreed a deal with Slovenian side Maribor.

It's hoped both deals, in addition to Zambrano, will be wrapped up in time for the trio to fly out to Slovenia next Monday for the first leg of their nearly two-week European pre-season trip.

Arthur Avom is a player City are considering, having impressed in Ligue 1 with Lorient. Discussions remain ongoing for the 21-year-old midfielder, but the Tigers face stiff competition from elsewhere, and they have other options.

One of those is understood to be Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Junior Dina Ebimbe. The 25-year-old spent last season on loan in France with Brest. He's played 85 times for Eintracht, and also made 14 appearances for PSG earlier in his career.

City have offers in for a host of other players, both defensively and further up the pitch, and are hopeful of bringing in another three or four players in the coming days.

Sources with knowledge of the Tigers' transfer business believe their primary targets have been identified, and talks are well underway, but they are also accepting of the fact that their negotiations will take time.
