Real Madrid has had a very busy summer when it comes to transfers. The club has already signed four new players with more potentially on the way, as well as working on departures of surplus players at the same time. However, just as important as transfers is keeping the key players at the club who are on contracts that are close to expiring, and thankfully for fans, the club is also working on those extensions in the background.
As being reported by theMadridZone on X, Real Madrid will be renewing the contracts of several important players in the coming weeks. The club has been working behind the scenes on these renewals to get them done quickly and quietly in typical Real Madrid fashion. The names of the players haven't been linked to the media so who exactly they are remains unknown at the moment.
You get an extension, you get an extension
It goes without saying that this season is one of the most important in the recent history of Real Madrid. Off the back of back-to-back trophyless seasons, the club is determined to get back to the top of the mountain and reclaim their place as the king of Europe, which is why we are seeing the club being so active this summer.
The arrival of Jose Mourinho as new head coach as well as the arrivals of Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva, Marc Cucurella, and Denzel Dumfries is just the first step in making sure the team is prepared for anything and everything the 26/27 season can throw at them, and these extensions are now the second step. The club has already extended Aurelien Tchouameni's contract until 2031 and they're not done there with many more to follow suit.
As mentioned early who exactly will be getting a new extension remains unknown, but there is one obvious candidate that the club has been in talks with for months. Vinicius Jr is out of contract next summer and has been in contract talks for months after hitting a number of stumbling blocks, but it seems that those have finally been cleared an the Brazilian looks set to sign a new long-term deal to keep him at the Bernabeu.
Other possibilities could players like Arda Guler and Jude Bellingham whose contracts expire in 2029 but again there's no way to say for certain who Real Madrid are looking to tie down for the long-term. With all the moves being made this summer Real Madrid walk into the 26/27 season with high expectations on their shoulders, let's hope they can live up to those expectations because a third consecutive trophyless season would be unfathomable for Real Madrid.
