Leeds United have continued to add to their wider squad with the addition of another academy player who has signed a first professional contract. It's been a busy few days for Leeds with contracts announced for young players Callum Mills, Louie Whitehead, Luke Matykiewicz, Sam Alker and now Jacob Render.
A versatile attacker that can play a number of positions across the front line, 18-year-old Render has been rewarded for his continued improvement in the academy, as he signs a one-year deal to assess his development at Thorp Arch across the forthcoming season.
Leeds are in the middle of announcing a host of professional contracts for their next generation of players, with the young group given a chance to have a moment in the spotlight before attention firmly switches to the first team's work in pre-season training.
Confirming the last contract award in a statement, Leeds said; "Leeds United are pleased to announce Academy forward Jacob Render has signed a first professional contract with the club. The 18-year-old’s one-year deal will see him continue his development at Thorp Arch throughout the upcoming season.
"Across all competitions, Render made 17 appearances last term which included nine outings for Scott Gardner’s Under-21s. The versatile attacker, capable of playing across the front line and in midfield, got a taste of senior football, notably netting in the 3-0 National League Cup victory over Gateshead and starting against Sky Bet League Two outfit Accrington Stanley in the Vertu Trophy.
"Everyone at Leeds United would like to congratulate Jacob and we look forward to seeing his continued development within the Academy."
