Real Madrid superstar center midfielder Jude Bellingham and England national team manager Thomas Tuchel have had a rocky relationship from the beginning, dating back to when Tuchel made a very poor choice of words and described Jude's behavior on the pitch as being "repulsive".
Then there was the drama before the 2026 World Cup. Tuchel made a lot of unpopular decisions with his squad, including snubbing Jude's close friend and Real Madrid Trent Alexander-Arnold despite the former Liverpool man being easily the best option for England at right back.
And many were worried that Tuchel would not start Jude, despite being England's best player (including at the last major tournament, the 2024 European Championships). Even Tuchel has had to admit that Jude is from another planet, as the Real Madrid man now has six goals from midfield while playing world class defensively and at progressing the ball with it tethered to his feet.
Jude Bellingham is not wrong at all
Bellingham had another massive game, recording back to back braces in the knockouts to match a Diego Armando Maradona record, sinking Norway's ship with a come from behind win and two great finishes.
After the game, Thomas Tuchel was full of praise for Jude Bellingham, but he absolutely ripped England as a team overall, tearing them apart for, in his eyes, playing too sloppy. As usual, he was cutting a frustrated figure on the sidelines during the game, gesticulating wildly while intermittently brooding sullenly.
In response to his coach's tirade, Jude went on one of his own, matching fire with fire and essentially telling Tommy Tuchel to shove it. Bellingham told reporters after the match, via Madrid Xtra, “Tuchel said he was disappointed with the performance? Yeah, well, whatever. It’s difficult out there. All the players have put in a very tough shift. My thoughts and appreciation go out to the players who put in a tough shift.”
Tuchel will undoubtedly not appreciate the perceived insubordination from Bellingham, but Jude knows that even Tuchel isn't crazy enough to bench him for giving his opinion. And it is an opinion that the England teammates around Jude will probably appreciate a lot and thank the young midfielder for speaking out on behalf of the players.
Because Norway are a great team and Tuchel is arrogant, again not a new thing, for thinking that the players will not suffer a big game against a top team. This is how you win, and Bellingham is a seasoned winner with Real Madrid who knows this. England are learning to suffer and win like they did not before, and Tuchel should be happy about that instead of whining.
