Coventry City 'closely' monitoring Norway World Cup star after Loum Tchaouna transfer

Coventry City are among ‘a host of clubs’ keen on Norway star Patrick Berg.

That’s according to TEAMtalk who say the Sky Blues, Ipswich Town, Hull City, West Ham and Burnley are all tracking the midfielder.

They reckon City have ‘shown an interest’ in a player who has excelled for Norway at the World Cup – and who played the full 120 minutes of Saturday night’s quarter-final defeat to England.

Indeed the 28-year-old appeared in all six matches in North America, starting the last four and contributing assists against the Ivory Coast and Senegal.

Berg is currently with last season’s Champions League surprise package Bodo/Glimt, having come through their youth set-up and spending just six months away, on loan with Lens in Ligue 1 in early 2022.

The report says Berg is ‘now seriously considering’ trying his luck overseas again and that the Sky Blues are ‘monitoring his situation closely’. Berg has two years left on his current contract with Bodo/Glimt.

This comes against the backdrop of their promotion to the Premier League and their first new arrival, winger Loum Tchaouna joining from the Clarets.

Berg is a holding midfielder, a position where Frank Lampard has Matt Grimes, Frank Onyeka and Victor Torp as options but also a position where there have been several players linked.

City are reported to be “keeping tabs” on Norwegian prospect Niklas Fuglestad as they continue to monitor emerging talent from the Scandinavian market.

Would Berg be a good signing? Have your say
